Twinkle Toes-ty by Sally Hansen

So Halloween is here... happy Halloween, remember to keep it safe!  I have been running around like a chicken without a head doing some last minute alterations to my daughter's costume.  Totally worth it though, she looks so adorable!

I have a beauty to share with you today: Twinkle Toes-ty by Sally Hansen.

Liebster Award Nominations!

Hello guys!  A few weeks ago, I was nominated for a Liebster Award by the lovely Gold Francine at therealbeautycase.blogspot.com.  I was really new around here and decided to wait a few weeks before paying it forward.  Well... how fortunate am I?  I got nominated for a second award right as I was getting ready to post about the initial one!  This time, I was nominated by obscenelyblue.blogspot.com.

I decided to answer both set of questions tonight, so here we go!

Revlon Autumn Spice & Sally Hansen Copper Penny

Hi guys!  I am having a hard time believing it's autumn.  I mean, sure... we had a little sprinkle a couple of weeks ago but here in California we are constantly hitting the mid 80's so it just feels like a reeeeally long summer... but not on my nails. no sir!  Not today, check it out!

NYC Boogie Nights

Hi guys, are you as excited as I am that it's Wednesday night?  I love Wednesdays!  For one thing, it's normally my day off from PT... but the best part is Modern Family is on tonight, which means my hubby and I have a date with our couch and burritos in about one hour!  :)

I have an awesome polish to share with you today, Boogie Nights by NYC.

China Glaze Ruby Pumps, Sally Hansen Red Carpet and Finger Paints Romanticism Ruby Comparison.

Who doesn't love China Glaze's Ruby Pumps?  It's a classic, the polish that started it all for me.  Super fine red glitter suspended in a red jelly base, perfect two coater formula, easy removal... what's not to love about it?  Needless to say, when I found out Sally Hansen made a dupe, I just had to get it as my Ruby Pumps bottle was almost gone.

Revlon Whimsical - Mermaid Week, Day 7

I tried to do some killer nail art I had envisioned for today's post, but after a couple of hours it became evident that wasn't going to happen... what a mess!

Instead, I am closing Mermaid Week with one of my (and everyone's) favorites: Revlon Whimsical.

Orly Monster Mash - Mermaid Week: Day 6

Hi guys!  I am so excited to share with you today, because it ties both of my hobbies!

So first of all, you should know I play roller derby, my team's name is Delta Sirens.  The polish I am sharing with you today is what I wear to bouts (I sometimes sneak it when I NSO) and it's because it kind of matches our jerseys, which I actually pulled out and used as a backdrop to some photos, so that's where you see some sparkles from!

So, my most prized polish: Orly Monster Mash.

Orly Go Deeper, Mermaid Week Day 5

I am so happy it's Friday again!  I will be doing a lot of catching up this weekend, so brace yourselves for bunches of posts!

Okay, so I had meant to stay away from black bases, but the polish I am sharing with you today works best over black, that's just the way it is.

Mermaid Week, Day 4: The Holographic, Green Ocean and Mermaid Tears.

I am not gonna lie, more thought went into arranging the names of the polishes on today's title than I'd like to admit.  Really though, doesn't it sound like the title to an awesome sci-fi novel?

I have three polishes to share with you today so I'm going to get right to it.  First, we have Mermaid Tears by OPI, three coats.  Perfect formula!

Mermaid Week Day 3: Sinful Colors Nail Junkie

I am not sure what Sinful Colors was thinking when they named this shade.  Nail Junkie?  The first thing I thought of when I saw this bottle was mermaids... I love it.  So the Mermaid connection today is visual and not name based, I am sure you will agree!  Check it out:

NYC Disco Inferno

I found a lonesome little guy at Rite Aid, NYC Disco Inferno.  I have never seen it before, and it's definitely not too mermaid, but I wanted to share it real quick :)

Disco Inferno is a clear base with big holographic hexagonal, blue normal-sized and silver small glitter all in one.  It really reminds me of a Disco Ball.  I am wearing one coat over Revlon Stiletto.

I hope you don't mind the fast one-nail-only swatch, I am going back to mermaid-mode now!

Revlon Wintermint vs. Sally Girl Brainy (Mermaid Week, day 2)

Ladies: It's Mermaid Week here, so brace yourself for all the mermaid scales you can handle!

My friend Melissa over at Lacquer Reverie brought up a great point on yesterday's post: SH Mermaid's Tale.  She asked: "why all the mermaid polishes?".  I don't have an answer; but I figured I should check how many I own.  Turns out, I don't have enough with that name to dedicate an entire week to them, but definitely enough for a Mermaid theme week.

The polishes I am comparing today are both near dupes of the elusive Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream, which I don't own :(  I will compare the two alternatives for you today though:

Mermaid's Tale by Sally Hansen (Mermaid Week!)

Who doesn't love mermaid stories?  When I was about six years old, I went to Disneyland for the first time.  My mom had told me we would go on a submarine ride to see mermaids and their treasure, I was so excited I (felt as if I) couldn't sleep for days with anticipation!  When we were there and I finally looked out that sub's window, I wanted to cry: I had clearly been fooled and the things before us were nothing but mechanical robots and fake treasure!  I was a big girl about it and didn't cry or ask any questions, but I was SO disappointed when I saw the whole farce unfold before my eyes.  Disappointed in myself and in my family for falling for it, because they were just having a blast.

Now, I am not looking to start any mermaid controversy or burst anyone's bubble at this point, but I will tell you the next mermaid-related-polish will be no disappointment to anyone:   Sally Hansen's Mermaid's Tale.

Nicole by OPI: Alex by the Books & Inner Sparkle

I'm so glad it's Saturday!  I have been going to bed early, so I have had (made?) no time for my blog at all, and for that I apologize.  I tore my MLC ligament skating at an event back in August (I had a blast that day, no regrets!), and last week I started physical therapy.  Well...let me tell you, its beating me up!  I have been going to bed before 10:00 pm, unheard of!  It has been worth it, I am already feeling a thousand times stronger and will be ready to be back on my skates in no time!

Anyways, back to topic.  I have two polishes to share with you today, at once: Alex by the Books and Inner Sparkle from Nicole by OPI. (Kmart has oodles of shades on sale for $3.50!)

SpaRitual A World of Compassion

SpaRitual is a relatively new to me nail polish brand.  I sometimes hold off on trying new brands because if I like it, it triggers a whole new need to "buy all the shades!" and as much as I love buying nail polish, it can be a little too harsh on my wallet.

Well, sometimes a sale will change my mind and break my will.  I found a few colors I loved at TJ Maxx for $4 and this is actually my favorite one:

A World of compassion - SpaRitual

Two coats, no base or topcoat.  Perfect buttery application, have a look!

It is a dusty periwinkle, I think it leans a little on the purple side and I just love it.  It's the perfect transition shade from summer to autumn... which seems appropriate because here in California we're still hitting the high 80's daily so it doesn't feel much like autumn unless you are looking at the date!

Happy Saturday!

Claire's Graffiti

I'm not a big fan of neons.  Maybe it's because I overdid it back in the 90's during a particularly rough time of my life, but I don't really like them on me anymore.  Every now and then though, I come across an item (usually polish) that will make me question my taste and give them a second, third or fourth chance.

Well, that's what's going on here.  I too, of course, am in love with black/white matte glitter, so when I saw this I KNEW this was going to change my mind forever.

Today I am sharing Claire's Graffiti with you.

Revlon Naughty vs. Sinful Colors Who's the Gloss (Chanel Paradoxal Dupes)

I have my first comparison for you today!  It's probably no surprise or isolated incident: I bought a dupe.  Actually, I have bunches of dupes but today I am going to share with you guys my latest:

Revlon Naughty Vs. Sinful Colors Who's the Gloss.
